When looking to buy bottles of water, look for the green-capped Dasani bottles of water! The green cap indicates 30% of plant-based material.


Disturbing facts about plastic bottles:

-Plastic bottles contain the chemical Bisphenol. Bisphenol is a compound in hard, clear polycarbonate plastics that mimics the effects of estrogen.

-Bisphenol can interfere hormone levels and cell signaling systems.

-In 2008, 2.4 billion pounds of plastic bottles were recycled.

-In 2008, another 10 billion pounds of plastic bottles were put into landfills.

-Only 10% of plastic bottles are recycled, leaving the other 90% in landfills.

-One ton of plastic bottles save up to 7.4 cubic yards of landfill space.

-In the time it takes to watch the Superbowl (3.5 hours) North Carolinians send 978,092 plastic bottles to the landfill.

-It takes more than 100 years for one plastic bottle to decompose.
